2027 Grammy Nominations Livestream: Time and New Categories
The November 16 nominations reveal begins at 4:45 a.m. Pacific. Our guide covers official viewing channels and the new categories to understand before the announcement.
The 2027 Grammy nominations livestream will begin on Monday, November 16, 2026, at 4:45 a.m. Pacific and 7:45 a.m. Eastern. The Recording Academy confirmed those viewing details in its October 16 announcement, giving music fans a clear starting point for following the 69th Grammy Awards nominations.
The reveal will include five newly introduced categories. Here is how to follow the announcement and understand several changes that will shape the nominee list, without confusing predictions with confirmed results.
2027 Grammy nominations livestream: where to watch
The Academy’s official viewing guide directs audiences to Grammy.com and the official Grammys YouTube channel. The complete nominations list will be posted on Grammy.com immediately after the announcement.
A nominations wrap-up show follows, with coverage on Grammy.com and the organization’s YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Twitch and X accounts. At the time of the announcement, participating artists had not been named; the Academy said those details would follow.
For West Coast viewers, the early start makes the posted list a useful alternative to watching live. Bookmark the official guide rather than relying on an unverified repost, particularly when sharing a category result with an artist’s collaborators or audience.
Five new categories to look for
The Academy’s June 16 category announcement identifies these additions for the 2027 awards:
- Best Asian Pop Music Performance.
- Best R&B Collaboration or Duo/Group Performance.
- Best Traditional Pop Vocal Performance.
- Best Traditional Folk Album.
- Best Latin Song.
The changes also revise two familiar category names: Best R&B Performance becomes Best R&B Solo Performance, and Best Folk Album becomes Best Contemporary Folk Album. Readers comparing this year’s list with previous years should therefore check the category definitions, not simply match old headings to new ones.
Those distinctions matter because categories recognize different types of work. A performance award, a songwriting award and an album award are not interchangeable measures, even when the same recording or musician appears in the conversation.
The June announcement also expands recognition of songwriters and composers of new material on winning albums in most genre album categories, placing their recognition alongside producers and engineers. This makes the eventual credits worth reading beyond the most prominently billed artist’s name.
Asian pop eligibility is about the recording
The Best Asian Pop Music Performance definition covers qualifying contemporary pop associated with Asian markets, including K-pop, J-pop and C-pop. It requires meaningful use of an Asian language; incidental words or brief phrases do not meet that requirement.
The Academy explicitly makes musical style, rather than a performer’s ethnicity or nationality, determinative. Entirely English-language recordings are not eligible in this category, although they can qualify in other appropriate categories. That is a useful corrective to interpreting the award as an identity-based grouping of artists.
Best Latin Song recognizes songwriters
The Best Latin Song category page specifies newly written songs with at least 51 percent of their lyrics in Spanish, released within the eligibility year. Qualifying recordings can span Latin pop, música mexicana, música urbana, tropical and Latin rock or alternative styles.
The award goes to the songwriters, not automatically to the performer. A singer is recognized in that capacity only when also credited as a songwriter. When reading the eventual nominations, check the named writing credits before describing who has received the nomination.
Nominations day is not Grammy night
The ceremony announcement schedules the awards for February 7, 2027, at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, simulcast across ABC, Disney+ and Hulu. November’s livestream reveals contenders; February’s ceremony reveals the winners.
For the separate membership-based selection process, consult Hollywood Weekly’s 2027 Grammy voting dates and process guide. This viewing guide reports announced arrangements and category rules, not forecasts of who will be nominated.
