99th Oscars November 2026 Submission Deadlines: Filmmaker Checklist

The Academy’s remaining November deadlines require filmmakers to coordinate score, eligibility and Best Picture paperwork. Here is a practical checklist.

99th Oscars November 2026 submission deadlines now give filmmakers two immediate dates to manage: Wednesday, November 4, for Original Score submissions, and Thursday, November 12, for Final General Entry, Animated Feature, Best Picture and RAISE materials. The Academy’s official key-dates calendar places both deadlines before preliminary voting begins in December, making the next three weeks an important administrative window for eligible productions.

Hollywood Weekly previously outlined the season’s earlier Oscar submission deadlines for filmmakers and songwriters. This update focuses on the remaining November requirements and the practical steps teams can take now to reduce last-minute errors.

99th Oscars November 2026 submission deadlines to calendar

The first remaining date is November 4. That is the Academy’s submission deadline for Original Score. Music teams should confirm that the authorized representative, credits and category materials are complete rather than treating the date as an internal creative deadline.

November 12 is the larger operational checkpoint. The Academy lists that date for Final General Entry, Animated Feature, Best Picture and RAISE submissions. Under the 99th Oscars General Entry rules, films qualifying from July 1 through December 31 must submit the required forms and full on-screen credits by 5 p.m. Pacific Time on November 12. A film qualifying after the deadline must provide confirmation of its theatrical booking. The rules also identify December 1 as the final withdrawal date.

A filmmaker checklist before November 12

Confirm the qualifying path. Identify the category, qualifying dates, theater and run being used. Do not assume that one submission automatically satisfies every category. The Academy publishes category-specific rules, and eligibility details can differ.

Reconcile the credits. Compare the submitted credits with the film’s final on-screen credit roll. Names, roles and company information should be checked by production, distribution and awards teams before the portal closes. Where the cut or credit roll is still changing, designate a final approval time well ahead of the Academy deadline.

Assign one authorized owner. The Best Picture rules state that a confirmed representative of the distributor or production company must submit the film for consideration. A single accountable owner can coordinate documents while department leads verify their portions.

Review Best Picture requirements early. Best Picture contenders must address the expanded theatrical standard and satisfy two of four RAISE standards. The theatrical requirement calls for an expanded run in nine additional markets beyond the initial qualifying market, subject to the detailed timing and market rules. Teams should document the plan instead of waiting for eligibility questions after submission.

Preserve confirmations. Save portal receipts, booking confirmations and the exact submitted versions of forms and credits. A shared, access-controlled folder gives the production a reliable record if the Academy requests clarification. File names should identify the category, film, version and submission date so the final package is distinguishable from drafts.

Three final checks for independent productions

Independent teams often divide awards work among producers, publicists and distributors. Before filing, confirm who controls the Academy account, who can certify theatrical information and who is authorized to answer follow-up questions. Verify that each contact can access the necessary records if another team member is unavailable.

Also compare the film’s planned release calendar with the eligibility period ending December 31. If the qualifying engagement will occur after November 12, the General Entry rules require booking confirmation with the submission. Finally, avoid relying on a screening-platform upload alone: a film must satisfy the applicable entry and category rules to be considered for awards.

What happens after the November deadlines

The Governors Awards are scheduled for November 15. Preliminary voting runs December 7–11, followed by shortlist announcements on December 15. Those dates are not substitutes for a submission plan; they are the next stages after eligibility materials are filed.

The useful takeaway is simple: November 4 belongs to Original Score, while November 12 is the broader deadline for General Entry, Animated Feature, Best Picture and RAISE. Because category rules control, filmmakers should use this checklist as an organizing tool and confirm every requirement directly with the Academy before submitting.
